Every team consists of people with different motives, behaviors, ideas, and thoughts. But in the end, every team has to work in one specific direction to achieve their goals in this case attitudes of the team matter most. Whether it is a small group, team, company, or organization, the right attitude indeed matters for their successful journey.

Before going forward, what does attitude means?

Attitude is the physiological views, thoughts, or feelings towards any object, person, or event.

It is not an object but something that can feel between people.

In one of the teams I have been working on recently, I did a small questionnaire on their most significant motive for joining that team. Team members told a lot of their ideas through stories that were very different from one to the other. But when they were saying their stories, some similarities can be categorized. If I go further, I can divide all their thoughts regarding the biggest motive for some categories based on their skills, passion, behavior, and incidents.

These people have similarities in terms of their biggest motives. But whether they have the right attitude? That was the question I had because them not performing well in the last few months as a team. Their attitudes are in a different direction than is expected. This is the reason for low performance.

Therefore, attitude matters a lot when working as a team. It is not just for the team members; the team leader should have a good and positive attitude to carry on the work with teammates.

First, it starts with the tone. Your voice tone can make you feel up and put you down. It is the same for your team also. If we have a positive vibe in our work surroundings, then we can definitely manage the most challenging work as well. A leader can cheer up their team and engage them in the activities. Spreading positivity helps to build up the right attitude among your team.

Everyone has tough times in their journey. It can be family issues, heavy workloads, illnesses, and other personal issues. But when working as a team, everyone needs to hold their nerve and work towards the team goal. We need to build up our positivity in tough times and work with the team. If you spread negativity with the team, the team may feel down. You can share your issues with teammates and relax your mind. But when it comes to the working atmosphere, we must keep those issues out of our minds for some moment and back with the team to carry on the workload. This will encourage others also to move in their journey.

You can highlight the good and best moments you celebrate as a team. The good things you accomplished as a team realize again and again that you all can “Do It” without losing. It will build a “Can Do” attitude among the team and encourage the team for the next hardest task. The team can be thankful for all the achievements that they already had and make new dreams for future missions.

Another important thing related to the last part is “Rewarding Yourself and Team”. Rewards make people happy, and celebrations make good memories in people’s hearts. Therefore, whenever you accomplish challenging tasks in your work environment, at least try to have a small celebration for that. It makes teammates happy and realizes that their team can do more activities.

There can be things that bother you in your journey. Always do not complain about it and try to find a solution for what bothers you. Sometimes these will reduce your productivity. Therefore, it is better to take necessary actions to fix the issue without complaining and spreading it to others. As a team, everyone can practice this and maintain creative thinking whenever they have problems.

“Health is Wealth.” I hope you all have heard this previously. Every one needs good health to achieve greater things in their life. When you are healthy, it is easy to carry on the workload without getting stuck in the middle. As a team, consider your teammates’ physical health and mental well-being. If everyone is in good health, the team will have a positive attitude.

Building a positive attitude in your team is not a huge task. Our smaller steps can make everyone happy and take your team towards the success goals. A leader can lift up the team’s attitude; it takes time and effort to do that. But it is not impossible.

As a leader, I am trying these tiny steps with my team, which helps me achieve goals. Therefore, I thought to share these with you all.

Positive leaders can make team members more moral, cheerful, productive, and energetic. It will create the right attitude for your team that makes everything achievable.
